Great stuff

"Yeah, these are their best songs, love them all just like I did way back in the eighties. This EP came out on an independent label long before they got a record deal, it's their oldest work so no, Ratt is not getting better, this is Ratt when they were at their best, young and hungry. Sweet Cheater; You Think your Tough and their cover of Walkin the Dog are solid rock gold."
Your talk is getting old...

"Ratt's debut was a modest EP released in the summer of 1983 as the LA metal scene was starting to bear fruit nationally. Quiet Riot has would soon hit it big as would Ratt buddies Motley Crue so this seemed to be the right time for the feisty quintet who originally hailed from San Diego. The sound on the EP is much larger, though not as refined as their later albums would be as they strove for and achieved commercial success. Robbin Crosby, the last time, would dominate on lead guitar here as Warren DeMartini was a young newcomer who had just joined the band (supposedly replacing Jake E. Lee). Crosby was not as talented a player as DeMartini, but his raw and loud style suits the band fine at this early stage. "You Think You're Tough" was the first song to get any kind of airplay though much of it nationally broke after the success of `Out of the Cellar' and "Round and Round". "Back for More" is previewed here in a slower longer version; it would be improved for the LP. "Sweet Cheater" and "Tell the World" rumble out of the speakers and showed just how heavy unrefined Ratt could be. In all `Ratt' is a nice early slice of fairly uncompromising LA glam that proved to be more metal than what corporate record execs would late do to this music."
I'm glad they composed these tunes....so refreshing!!!

"I'm sure other DIE HARD RATT fans will agree with me...."I'm glad they wrote this album..." At that time...(1999....most of us ...the fans were content with that style of rock)...It's such a re-freshing album..the kind you play after listening to "Dancing Undercover", "Detonator" and "Out of the Cellar".... Nice for long road trips !!"
