CD Reviews

One of the Best by One of the Best Finally on CD !!!
Gypsy Guitars | Kula, UpCountry Maui, Hawaii | 12/02/2005
(5 out of 5 stars)

"this one of the best recordings made by one of the best guitarists in the world finally made available on CD !!! the title cut, "Lamentos do Morro" is an astounding example of Rabello's genius as a solo guitarist & the entire album is a brilliant collection of Brazilian violao recorded early in Rabello's career w/ Dino do Sete Cordas also playing on several cuts of the recording... there is also accordian to add a unique texture to the music on several cuts yet it is Rabello's genius, both intricate & furious, that is soul- extraordinary & recorded at the peak of his powers that makes this an essential CD to own & draw inspiration from if you love great acoustic guitar playing... i just wish that ALL of his recordings were available on CD or that a box set tribute were made to celebrate the music of this fabulous player !!! yet this CD's release as well as the recent release of "Cry, My Guitar" by GSP [Rabello's final recording] shows that the business world of music sees the value of making Rabello's recordings available & gives hope that we shall see much more in the future... Raphael Rabello's genius as a Brazilian guitarist / violoaoist deserves universal recognition & his recordings deserve the same respect !!! Obrigado."
