CD Reviews

A good CD, but there's one little problem

"I'd like to start by saying what a cool cd this was. It has a lot of your favorite Ranma characters singing! I especially like Akane's song about calling Ranma an idiot through the whole thing (Baka) and Ranma's song about how he loves Akane then saying it's just an april fools joke. A song for every month. From Nabiki (track 1) to All the main (and some minor) characters on track 12. It is in Japanese, so if you want something in English... DON'T buy it... But I recommend it for everyone! Shampoo's Cat Cafe song is pretty good too! Now for the bad... apart from the slower songs (which some may like) I think that it's very narrow minded of Amazon.com to print "Japanese Title" for the tracks! I hate them for this! They should know that people check their site to see if cd's have certain songs on them, but if all it says is "Japanese Title" they can't do this! People don't know what songs are on it! GRRRRR! Aside from that... it's a good cd and I was happy to get it from a nearby store called Masquerade Games which provided track listings! Let me explain what the songs are for you. 1)New Years song by Nabiki 2)"Black Rose Valentine" by Kodachi 3)An angry punk song by Akane 4)"Tonight is April Fools" by Ranma 5)cat cafe menu song by Shampoo 6)"Father" by Kasumi 7)"So Many Memories" by F-Ranma, Shampoo, Akane, Nabiki and Kasumi 8)some Lambada thing by Happosai 9)some love song by Ryoga 10)"Ready Set Go" by Ukyo, Shampoo, Kodachi, Akane 11)"November Rain" by F-Ranma 12)"Character X-Mas" by Azusa, Soun, Tofu, Akane, Nabiki, Mikado, Kuno, Kodachi, Sasuke, Tsubasa, Ukyo, F-Ranma, Ranma, Mousse, Shampoo, Ryoga, Cologne, Happosai, Kasumi, maybe Genma and some others.Hope that helped out."

"I bought this cd for just one song, November Rain, and I found 9 more songs I was missing. Yes, there are two I don't like so much. 12 songs, one for each month of the year. They are fun, but sadly only in japanese, with a japanese booklet.
These are the tracks and some hints of the themes:
1- I Like This Night, New Year's, Best/Kono Yo de Ichiban, Oshougatsu ga Suki/Tendou Nabiki
---Nabiki's greed grows in New Year's day, when tradition dictates that relatives give money to children in white envelopes!
2- Black Rose Valentine/Valentine ni Kuro-bara wo/ Kunou Kodachi
---Kodachi's trademark (a Black Rose) is the perfect gift for Ranma in Valentine's day.
3- Can't Become a Sweet, Nice Girl/Yasashii, Ii Ko ni Narenai/Tendou Akane
---Akane's baka (idiot) song. If you hear it, you'll know why.
4- Tonight is April Fool's/Konya wa April Fool/Saotome Ranma
---Finally Ranma (boy) tells his love to Akane, too bad it is an April Fool's joke (even if "it is a little true").
5- Cat Cafe Menu Song/Nekohanten Menu Song/Shampoo
---Welcome to Neko Hanten (Cat Cafe), here is its Chinese menu.
6- Father/Otou-san/Tendou Kasumi
---Kasumi's beautiful song for father's day. She's 19, but she stands for her gone mother and takes care of her father, who stands for his family
7- Full of Memories/Omoide ga Ippai/DoCo
---DoCo sings this beautiful song about love and youthful memories that wont be lost, even when they grow up.
8- Fascinating Limbo Dance/Miwaku no Limbo Dance/Happousai, Cologne
---A laughing song of the Limbo Dance, by Happousai and Cologne.
9- Dear Akane/Haikei, Akane-san/Hibiki Ryouga
---The ever-lost Ryoga sings to her beloved Akane, but all others have something to say too.
10-Ready... Go!/Yo-i... Don!/Shampoo, Ukyou, Kodachi, Akane
---The four girls in a race for Ranma, each one using her weapon: Chinese food, Okonomiyaki, poisoned cookies, and Anything goes Martial Arts!
11-November Rain/November Rain/Ranma-chan
---Ranma idiot, you couldn't say "I love you". Now you are standing there, in the loneliness of a November Rain, looking to a town with a touch of sadness, blurred by your own tears.
---The most beautiful song of the whole set, sung by Hayashibara Megumi.
12-Characters Christmas/KYARAKUTAAZU KURISUMASU/Ranma Opera Troupe
---All the characters singing Merry Christmas. A 12 minutes song!.Hope you enjoy this cd."
Great Holiday Music Featuring Ranma 1/2 Characters!

"Not many are aware that the voice actors who do Ranma 1/2 in Japanese also recorded various CDs of songs as their characters... these songs are all originals and often tell a story of their own not found in either manga or video. Among the best of the CD: Nabiki's "I Love New Year's Best," in which she amasses even more wealth from her sister, father, and Kuno; Kodachi's crazed "Black Rose for Valentine," which has a very lively beat despite her nutty laughter; Akane's "I Can't Be A Sweet Young Girl," which is pretty much a litany of insults aimed at Ranma; Ranma's "November Rain," in which the girl-Ranma ponders relationships and life; and "Charming Limbo Dance," in which most of the series' male characters attempt to win a beachside limbo contest, with hysterical results. Two other gems: "Let's Go," featuring all four fiancees (Ukyo makes a rare musical appearance) competing in a foot race with Ranma as the apparent prize, and "Characters Christmas," a really beautiful Christmas song... once you skip the first 3.4 minutes of dialog. There are some losers on the CD, too, including Kasumi's "Father," which puts you to sleep, and Ranma's "Tonight is April Fool's," an improbable love song to Akane. An added plus is the jacket, featuring chibi versions of the characters. A wonderful gift -- or must-have -- for any Ranma fan."
