Tracy Hurzeler | Utah | 01/07/2008 (5 out of 5 stars) "Although I am familiar with Miklos Rozsa's works both film and concert, I was not familiar but intrigued by these pieces; this was my first hearing of these works now. They are wonderful additions to the Violin literature.
I picked this performance because of the violinist Philippe Quint, who I discovered with his fine recording of the William Schuman Violin Concerto. Quint shows a great mastery and flair for all of the pieces, which portray a great range of moods and emotions. His playing always secure, dramatic, thoughtful, and overall solid in in every detail. Quint's passion and espresivity could be found rather tellingly in the Sonata for Solo Violin. William Wolfram is an able partner in the procedings. A winner." |
