CD Reviews

"Q's music sets the mood for love"
J. Lovins | Missouri-USA | 01/14/2004
(5 out of 5 stars)

"This midwest Chicago arranger, composer and producer has a "Who's Who" following and performance record. I first noticed Quince during the Count Basie days, love Basie and the arrangements from Jones were priceless, needless to say this album "Love Q", has that same essence of originality and saying something awareness, that has given every fan a big lift from this wonderful human being, who has always been there for others! This album will put a move on your heart as we respond to each song, we know we heard the best in the businessJust listen to "LOVE ME BY NAME", vocalist Patti Austin, with a stop the presses performance ~ "JUST ONCE", featuring James Ingram in one of my top ten favorites ~ "TURN OUT THE LAMPLIGHT", love that George Benson as he puts the move on his favorite girl's heart, how about yours? ~ "BABY, COME TO ME", takes melody to another level with Patti Austin and James Ingram standing side by side, not being able to live without each other...this ballad will get under your skin and stay there ~ "HOW DO YOU KEEP THE MUSIC PLAYING", another duet by Austin & Ingram, when you're in love this song will put the pieces back together again. With incredible ease the Q, once again ventures into a vastly dizzying array of musical styles ~ only to conquer everything in his path. He has been responsible for beginning several artists careers and never looking back for so much as a thank you. But Mr. Jones, you've been an inspiration to all of us who have climbed the mountain. Like you've been quoted saying "Thank God, for Henry Mancini who gave me breaks and opened doors" ~ well the same can be said for you Mr. Q., thank you and keep the music coming our way forever.Total Time: 75:24 on 17 Tracks ~ Hip-O Records 61576 ~ (1/13/2004)"
Perfect for a romantic evening

"Another compilation from Quincy Jones; this time a single disc that focusses exclusively on his softer side. It's smooth and seductive, without being saccharine sweet, and it features some of the best r'n'b vocalists from the last 30 years. And it doesn't seem to matter from what decade Q's music comes, it still sounds fresh and hasn't dated. Unfortunately, there is no new music here but it's still great to have such a beautiful collection of songs all on the one disc. For me the real highlight is Patti Austin's fabulous vocal on Love Me By Name but there is not a weak track here."

"when you say Quincy Jones you are talking about IMO the Greatest Record Producer ever&a Man who has worked with the who is who of the Industry. these songs which were originally on his Double Disc Set of Love songs a few years back is narrowed down to a single disc but the Results are still the same. His Genius truly shines as a Arranger&producer. He understands Details&Fine tunning a Vocal performance&also addding or subtracting a Part when he needs to. He has always had that Gift for knowing how to be detailed&Balance out what works&what doesn't."
