CD Reviews"Secret Places" is a delight. Mark Hammond | Chambersburg, PA USA | 06/03/2002 (5 out of 5 stars) "Recommended for people who like to listen to tango music. This is Washington DC's best-known and most recorded tango ensemble. They have played at the Kennedy Center, the White House, and the Pan American Union, as well as the Argentine Embassy. The ensemble includes 2 violins, double bass, cello, and piano. All musicians have impeccable academic credentials and have performed professionally with regional symphony orchestras.The music on the disk contains a lot of favorites: "La Cumparsita," "El dia que me querias," "Nueve de Julio," "Taquito militar," "Tus besos fueron mios," and "Caminito." There are only two pieces by Piazzola. I mentioned that because some dancers do not like disks that have a preponderance of pieces by Piazzola. Yes, some people stay away from "tango nuevo." Dancers will recognize the names Carlos Gardel, Gerardo Rodriguez, Mariano Mores, and Juan de Dios Filberto. The arrangements are great, and the presentation is delightful."
