Synopsis

Album Description
Prokofiev's two violin concertos and his solo sonata are among the greatest such works produced in the twentieth century, and have remained in the active repertory from their inception. Their depth of thought and technical difficulty challenge the finest players. Violinist Rouben Aharonian was born in Latvia in 1947 and studied at the Moscow Conservatory with Leonid Kogan. He has won several important international prizes, and since 1985 has been artistic director of the Armenian Chamber Orchestra. Samuel Friedmann, born in 1940, graduated from the Leningrad Conservatory as a conductor in 1966. In 1973 he immigrated to Israel and began his international career. His concert activities have led him to the United States and many European countries.
