"Now reissued at half the price you would pay for all of these works. I have only personally heard the Muti Ivan the Terrible but I've heard good things about the other Previn recordings and recommend this to anybody not already having most of these works.

In addition, this issue is worth it just for Ivan the Terrible. I remember when I first heard this on record being so off-put by the narration that I tried to tape the piece minus the narration. You'll just have to get used to it. Why? Because this rendition by Muti is so fiery you better be careful that during the closing pages of the work that your audio speakers do not spontaneously combust and burst into fire. The closing moments are the most exciting thing possibly I've ever heard put on record. I hope this eventually gets a SACD reissue."
