Synopsis

Product Description
There's only one theremin lounge band, and that's Project: Pimento! San Francisco's finest lounge-tenders mix up a passionate elixir of rhythmic suavity set to sound. Sultry female vocals are backed up by a tight jazz combo, including a smooth theremin that takes the mood from the early 60s to outer space. Fogged in velvet, hopped on hep, and buying this round. Project: Pimento returns with their long-awaited follow-up to their debut CD Magical Moods of the Theremin . This new CD, Space Age Love Songs , contains 14 songs from the 40s, 50s, and 60s, reinterpreted for 21st century hipsters, hep-cats, and swingers everywhere. Project: Pimento features the theremin playing of Dr. Robby Virus. As the only instrument that is played without actually touching the instrument, the theremin is notoriously difficult to play, but Dr. Virus tames this musical beast with a hand wave and a martini. Project: Pimento also features the sultry voice of Lola Bombay, alter-ego of noted jazz vocalist Lori Carsillo. The Project: Pimento sound is rounded out by the talent-laden and devastatingly handsome lineup of Gentleman Jack (guitar), Aaron Wallbanger (drums), and Baron Karl von Stoli (bass). Special guest organist Wil Blades also performs on Space Age Love Songs .

CD Reviews

A new classic in thereminic music
G. Quinn | Atlantic City, NJ USA | 05/04/2008
(5 out of 5 stars)

"What a wonderful album of cool, hip, lounge music played beautifully on the theremin by Dr. Robby Virus, with the delightful vocals of Lola Bombay. This is a must for lovers of theremins or lounge and it's the ultimate if you're perspicacious enough to appreciate both. Together with Magical Moods of the Theremin, we have the next chapter in the history of this underappreciated instrument, and worthy successors to the ground-breaking works of Rockmore and Kavina."
