Propp | Sacramento, CA USA | 11/03/2009 (5 out of 5 stars) "This is the fourth sampler album of music from the Private Music label (one of the earliest "New Age" labels), and features music from (mostly) 1989. (Their earlier sampler albums were: The World of Private Music, Vol. 1, The World of Private Music, Vol. 2, and The Private Music Sampler 1988.)
Their reliance on their "star," Yanni (who has two tracks on this album) is diminishing on this album, because their stable of artists is increasing. Besides Patrick O'Hearn (one track), Tangerine Dream (two tracks), and Suzanne Ciani (one track), they've now added Nona Hendryx, Leo Kottke, David Van Tieghem, Andy Summers (!), and even a fun vocal track by Bill Gable ("All the Posters Come Down"). This is another great album illustrating the evolution of "New Age" music." |
