CD Reviews

Give me something I have not heard before.
M. Quinonez | 12/16/2007
(5 out of 5 stars)

"Let me start out by saying I've been a fan of the Sprouts since hearing appetite back in early 1985 and let me tell you boy I was instantly taken away by the songs simple beauty. The album, "two wheels good" (renamed in America) was just as awe inspiring. When I found out that it was actually the bands second effort I quickly ran to the local import record shop and picked up a copy of their fist album, "Swoon". I was sold all over again. Soon after that came, "Protest Songs", "Langley Park", "Jordan", "Andromeda" soon after followed the, "best of package" titled, "The Collection" (renamed in America) which gave us a listen to several tracks remastered for the first time. Soon after that, "Gunmen and other stories" my favorite was released. Now we have, "The Kings of Rock-N-Roll" which in it's own right is fine representation of some Sprout music, but it is basically a regurgitated version of, "The Collection." The person who wrote the review for this album goes on to mention that there are a, "few" hard to find b-sides on this package. Well let's see, "Nero The Zero" has essentially been released on just about every other CD single that has been released in the last 10 years. "He'll Have To Go" as well as, "The Yearning Loins" were released on, "Two Wheels Good." Now Donna Summer on the other I have not seen on CD form anywhere. So maybe we should thank the record company for this one track, I think. Come on man where are the early singles, extended versions and b-sides? Give me something I haven't seen or heard before. For example; Radio Love, Cherry Tree, Constant Blue, The Devil Has All The Best Tunes, Walk On, The Glass Slipper, Spinning Belinda, Silhouettes, Heaven Can Wait, Oh The Swiss! , Real Life (Just Around the Corner), Wigs, The Guest Who Stayed Forever, Old Spoonface is Back, Rebel Land, Vendetta, Dandy of the Danube, Tin Can Pot (This one rocks), Tornado, Bearpark, Just Because I Can, Dragons, The End of the Affair, Girl I'm Here and Never Trust a Spell. If you (record company) release a package that includes the early singles, extended versions and b-sides I would be all over it as well as buy one copy for each of my family members and friends."
