Synopsis

Album Description
Get ready to go on a funk-ified odyssey through the morphing vibes and grooves of the UK's newest musical force poised for an American breakthrough, Positive Flow. Spearheaded by producer and multi-instrumentalist Jesse Reuben Wilson who Tyler Askew of the UK Magazine Straight No Chaser says "is a producer to look out for" and fronted by the stunning singer Donna Gardier (member of Sting's band), Positive Flow is sure to spawn a massive buzz with their American debut on Shanachie Entertainment Can U Feel It? Positive Flow's organic concoction of funk, R&B, soul, jazz, dance and house is infectious. Jesse says, "I'm into cutting edge sounds and beats...I love classic soul and the idea of mixing that with top urban production. That's what Positive Flow is all about-creating nu-classics." Can U Feel It? joins Jesse and Donna with an inspiring line-up of upcoming talent including poet/vocalist Zena Edwards and rapper Breis, as well as with seasoned session players like flutist Gary Barnacle (Jamiroquai) and legendary percussionist Robin Jones (Sade and Tito Puente). Can U Feel It? is a deep blend of neo-soul, nu-jazz and soulful house with a focus on great songs with sultry vocals. The mastermind of Positive Flow, producer Jesse Reuben Wilson, is a self-taught drummer, bass player, guitarist and keyboardist. He credits Steely Dan as one of his first major influences and says that electronica and hip hop innovations continually inspire his music. Jesse who is like a mad professor in the studio confides "I'm what you could call an analog/digital head. I love the earthy organic feel fused with digital. On Can U Feel It? there is a lot of live stuff. I wanted to hear the edge of a bow on a real cello, the breathiness of a real flute or the roll of a real cymbal. There is something absolutely special about a real musical instrument." Can U Feel It? combines live instruments and masterfully programmed beats and the results are pure sonic pleasure.

"Don't sleep. This is a great CD. The music is smooth, neosoul, jazzy but unlike a lot of imports in this genre the vocals are great too. Higly recommended!"

"I'm an old house-head who has aged and mellowed out and I've mainly been listening to neosoul. XM Radio plays 'City Steets', which is a hot jazzy loungy tune, on the neosoul station called Flow and it cought my attention. The whole CD was a pleasant surprise. Positive Flow does a good job of mixing neo/british soul with a gentle touch of house and strong vocals like in 'Natural" and in 'Come Fly With Me'. This type of mix is hard to find on many neosoul albums. It's a good buy."
