"This is it: Everything the Police released," boasts the notes in the 66-page booklet included with this box set. Obsessive fans have already written to rock magazines indignantly pointing out the omission of this or that obscurity. But everyone else will find that these four discs include all the Police they'd ever want to own. The first two discs include all of Outlandos d'Amour, Reggatta de Blanc, and Zenyatta Mondatta in their original order, interspersed with live rarities and singles B-sides. Discs 3 and 4 are more satisfying, including the band's well-crafted studio high points, Ghost in the Machine and Synchronicity, plus more outtakes and live tunes. The set ends with "Don't Stand So Close to Me '86," a dismal remake of the early favorite. By this point, the musician's egos were running rampant and they were barely speaking. If anyone wonders why the group called it quits so abruptly, this tune makes it clear that the split was smart and timely. --Jim DeRogatis

"Message In A Box: The Complete Recordings (1993) contains every song The Police ever recorded. Well, almost every song. A few years later some odds and ends were discovered, so this set probably contains 97% of their material.
This set has 4 discs, with Disc 1 being their earliest material and Disc 4 being their last material. All the classics are on this set (of course). Songs like Message In A Bottle, Every Breath You Take, Spirits In The Material World, Walking On The Moon, Roxanne, Invisible Sun, Synchronicity II, King Of Pain, etc.
My personal favorite disc on this set is Disc 3 because it contains my favorite Police album, Ghost In The Machine (1981). I think this album had their best music. Songs like Secret Journey, Darkness, Too Much Information, Rehumanize Yourself, Demolition Man, and Omegaman are somewhat unknown classics.
This set of course contains their massive hit album Synchronicity (1983). Songs like Every Breath You Take, King Of Pain, Wrapped Around Your Finger, Synchronicity II, etc. My personal favorite from this album is Walking In Your Footsteps.
If you want THE Police compilation, get this set. Highly recommended."

"Honestly, I don't think I could sit down to dinner with Sting. The politics, the environmentalism, the ego.... but I love the music. I've been a fan of the Police since the early 80's and all else aside they made some great songs and they are all here. I had the opportunity to see them live on their reunion tour and thought they were fantastic which inspired this purchase. Well... maybe I could have dinner with Sting... we'd just have to stick to talking music."
