"No, not the '80s heavy metal group POISON... something different here... and

O.K. I'll admit it... I missed this one..

I mean, I've heard tracks of this group on a few compilations, but this is my first time actually getting a full collection of their work...

In all fairness though, I do have an excuse - - despite the deceptively great production/recording and almost Philly International tightness of the grooves, the group just never took off like it should have...

and what a shame...

Description:

Classic mid-70s hard core disco/boogie funk with the horns, hot percussion and heavy bumpin' bass lines... If you like many of my other obscure funk faves (Rasputin Stash, Black Heat, The Counts, Sound Experience, Instant Funk) I can just say one thing: this group fits right in on the list...!!! Though everything is working about it, the drummer and bass player are really kickin' - - When I looked up the bass player I thought I'd find him on a million different studio sessions, but was shocked when nothing came up on him... His lines are distinctively crisp and funky...

The drummer also has the "Sly and the Family Stone" type funky in your face/take no prisoners drive...

All in all, can't go wrong with this... If you like it, also check out the soundtrack to Car Wash (Rose Royce) - - funk in a very similar later mid-70's veign!"
