CD Reviews

Poison Box Set
niftey | 03/21/2009
(3 out of 5 stars)

"Poison collector's edition is a box set compilation of Poison songs.

The 3 cd box set covers all Poison albums between 1986 and 2000,which include 'Look What the Cat Dragged In', 'Open Up and Say Ahh', 'Flesh & Blood', 'Swallow this Live', 'Native Tongue', 'The Greatest Hits' and 'Crack a Smile'.

The box set doesn't cover any albums from 2000 onwards, so no songs at all are included from 'Power to the People', 'Hollyweird', '20 Years of Rock' and the cover album 'Poison'd'; which is why i couldn't give it 5 stars. If they had a 4th disc, all Poison albums up to present time could have been included, however maybe a part 2 box set collectors edition will come out in the future ? which could focus on Poison albums from 2000 onwards.

The Song selection in general is very good featuring nearly all of the singles and classics from those albums included, i would change some of the songs on the list as Poison have some other great tracks that missed out, but i'm not going to go on about that, because everyone has their own opinions and favourites anyway."
Great Box Set!

"Great rock band, Excellent Box Set, has the best of the 3 previous compilations (Greatest 86-96, Best of Blues and Ballads, 20 years of rock), also other great songs with Poison's trademark, price is very good, very nice to get it and have it in your collection

But...I'm a fan and I got all CD's (14 Cds in Poison's catalog)...usually a box set has: b-sides, unreleased or remasters of out-of print, also if a CD holds 80 minutes of music, more songs MUST be added-almost another 18 songs could have been added, such as:

-unreleased: from MTV acoustic: Good love; Let it play.

-B-sides: When the whip comes down, Gotta Face the Hangman, Living for the minute,

-remasters of the 4 studio track from the out of print "Swallow this one" (tell me why, no more looking back, only time will tell, souls in fire)

-remasters and more show of the great albums: Native Tongue: Strike up the band, Stay alive, Ride child Ride, Blind faith/ From CAS: Best thing you ever had, Mindtripper-set you free, That's the way I like it, Mr Smiley/from power to the people: "Can't bring me down", "Power to the people"

-some from Poison'd: Just What I needed, Can't you see, Sexy back -only at Poison'd version sold by Walmart

I think it was the best oportunity to release something more focused to the fans (outside the USA, overseas) please record companies, stop doing mediocre products because piracy, there are people who work hard to get the right stuff and pay for it, do better products, "think as older fans or new fans""
