Synopsis

Product Description
Merriam-Webster defines pleasure as, 'a state of gratification; a source of delight or joy.' Similarly singer/songwriter Marcus 'Pleasure P' Cooper has composed his own unique brand of expression surrounding maturation and life lessons learned that connect to his personal joy. The Carver Ranches, Florida native and former member of the teen heartthrob group Pretty Ricky has not only grown on his journey to now, he's found more ways to connect to his source of gratification, noting that 'a lot of people thought I wasn't going to amount to anything.' For his Bluestar/
Atlantic Records solo debut release, The Introduction of Marcus Cooper, Pleasure P is singing about just how far he has come in his 23 years of life, and why it is so important for him to keep moving forward.

Hell Of A Debut

"From The Jackson Five & New Edition to Mista & B2K every youthful R&B group has had one standout singer destined for solo success. Almost two years after leaving Pretty Ricky, Pleasure P provides us with the excellent debut The Introduction of Marcus Ramon Cooper. Like Michael Jackson & Ralph Tresvant before him, Pleasure P's voice provided Pretty Ricky with some of their biggest hits from Grind On Me to the massive On The Hotline. One would expect Pleasure to go the route of R&B thug, given that he came from Pretty Ricky instead where giving a credible R&B that shows off his maturing tenor. The CD opens up with the unnecessary Yung Juc collabo I'm A Beast. I'm all for wanting to grab your listener with a club banger for the first song on the CD, but I think the song would have been a better fit with Drake or Fabolous. What follows is a collection of strong ballads & guaranteed mood setters. While there's nothing as strong vocally in my opinion as Did You Wrong ,Pleasure shines on Under, Let Me Tenderroni, Under & the Cheryl Lynn sampling Your Love. There are a few missteps on the CD like the message song Dream In The Air & the previously mentioned I'm A Beast, but overall Pleasure P has made an excellent debut CD and fully emerged as a respectful R&B crooner in my book.
