CD Reviews

A Nice Christmas CD To Add To Your Christmas Collection!
Michael Q. | Buffalo, NY, USA | 03/05/2005
(4 out of 5 stars)

"1. Sleigh Ride (3:24) A-

Very nice and upbeat song. Anna, Anaïs, and Rosie sound their greatest out of the whole album on this one.

2. Winter Wonderland (2:03) B

A nice remake, but the song is really short, and instrumental background sounds rather cheesy.

3. O' Holy Night (3:39) A+

Physically the best song on the album. Janet has all the solos in this song, and obviously pulls it off very well. Janet sounds shines marvelously through the song.

4. Let It Snow! (1:48) B

The shortest song on the album! A great song, but the instruments are rather cheap.

5. Rudolph The Red- Nosed Reindeer (1:54) B-

Vocals are superb on this one, but this is a kid's song and has a kiddy-like tempo.

6. Silver Bells (2:10) B+

This is one of those X-Mas carols you rarely hear these days. I'm glad they chose to do this one.

7. Rockin' Around The Christmas Tree (2:07) C

A new and modern vibe added to this oldie Christmas favorite. Becomes very repetitive throughout the song.

8. The Christmas Song (3:13) A

Yet another amazing song on this "Playful" album. Wonderful harmonies during the chorus.

9. All I Want For Christmas Is You (3:55) C-

It starts out pretty nice, but then gets worse toward the end. You can really tell that Anaïs and Anna have colds and are sick and sound really off pitch, which ruins the song. Janet's voice has matured since their last album, and Janet sounds absolutely striking on this one.

10. Silent Night (3:04) A-

A slow-paced and perfect end to the Christmas album. Play knows how to harmonize well and blend together, especially on this one.

Overall, this album is really good, but you can tell that Play was on a strict budget for this album. When I get a CD, I love looking at new pictures and reading the thank-you's. They could have at least done a Christmas-style photo shoot, but come to think of it, it's the music that we should be caring about. I really enjoy listening to Play's music and I think they have potential to make it big really soon.

Merry Christmas!

"Play has done a Christmas album, after 4 years!

1. Sleigh Ride-3/5: I always skip this song. Annoying after first few times.

2. Winter Wonderland-4/5: Rosie sounds good on this one!

3. O Holy Night-5/5: Janet is amazing!

4. Let It Snow-5/5: Rosie starts this song wonderfully! They all blend together really well.

5. Rudolph The Red Nose Reindeer-4/5: Not my favorite, although they did do a wondeful job on it.

6. Silver Bells-5/5: I think this should be a single. Wonderful singing, like Janet ending the song.

7. Rockin' Around The Christmas Tree-5/5: No teen Christmas album can be complete without this!

8. Christmas Song-4/5: If they had to redo a song, they should redo this one. Anna's talented, but her first solo is a bit off.

9. All I Want For Christmas Is You-5/5: Wondeful song! Deffenatly my favorite on the album!

10. Silent Night-5/5: Wonderful singing by Janet Leon!

Great CD, but when you listen to it, you can tell it was a bit rushed. Their voices don't blend well with the music, and when on the wrong bass setting on your sterio, you can't hear their voices."
Good for Younger Girls

"I think Play is an awesome group but I feel they took a step backwards after making Replay. I mean Replay was obviously directed towards older teens then their next cd's go back to sounding like they're for younger girls. It seems like this cd as well as don't stop the music would've gone before replay and Replay would've been their last cd cuz that would've made a lot more since rather than having a cd with songs called Let's get to the Love Part and Hot then having your next cd have songs like it's a hard knock life. But this cd is okay I just think the cover could've been more Christmas like and honestly Janet's vocals get annoying her notes sound so forced and struggled I think Faye gave the group a better harmony. But anyways this cd is more for younger girls I think the older they got the more backwards they went."
