"Greatly curious about this recording of The Planets (which received two glowing reviews on Amazon UK) and unable to find this CD anywhere else online, I downloaded it from Apple I-Tunes. It's a brilliant recording and performance. This is not just another of many recordings available. Reportedly recorded with more period elements to the orchestra, it's an entirely energized, passionate and resonate version of The Planets. The tempi are more like Holst's own from 1926 than any other recording made in any other era. Even Saturn comes in a 7 minutes and 25 seconds as opposed to some of the 10 minute versions out there. That doesn't mean that it's definitive, but it certainly is exciting. The St Paul Suite is brilliant as compared to many pedestrian recordings available. This recording needs to be re-issued today, without delay, with the beautiful original cover art. Downloads are simply not as satisfying at having a recorded product in your hands with liner notes and cover art."
