Amazing Death Metal
Metal Hitman | U S and A | 12/23/2006
(5 out of 5 stars)

"I must say, the French are finally starting to come along in the Metal scene. This is yet another addition to the growing popularity of tech-death. The musicianship is beyond excellent, particularly the rhythm section. These guys have certainly been getting their healthy dose of funk and jazz, putting a large emphasis on complex grooves and meter changes. It even has a few sections of clean tone guitar with a bit of funky jamming. Fear not Death Metal fans, it still contains heavy riffage and blasting double bass to bring on that headbanging feel that we all love. Never since Atheist, Cynic and Late Death has Death Metal, Groovey Jazz and Prog Rock been fused so effectively. Sure, bands like Necrophagist, Nile and Origin play brutal music mixed with challenging technical musicianship, and they do it quite well, but Pitbulls in the Nursery's music is a completely different feel. It's far more rhythm based, and spends more time grooving than just blasting away at relentless speeds. Opeth has a similar approach, but they sound like the Monkees compared to this. There ARE blasts of impressive speed for extended periods of time, but not to the extent of Origin or Suffocation (Don't get me wrong, those are two of my favorite bands). I guess there are a few aspects that are comparable to Meshuggah, but it's far better than ANYTHING Meshuggah has done, because it actual has variety and melody.

You don't have to be a Death Metal fan to enjoy this. In fact, I showed this album to three friends last week, one a Metalhead, one a Prog-rock fan, and the other a Techno dude. To my surprise they all LOVED it (yes, even the techno fan).

Seriously, these dudes are really tight. If you want to hear some unique Metal that still maintains the power Metal wouldn't be complete without, buy this album, you won't be dissapointed. Highly suggested for Atheist fans."
