Perkin's lone solo album showcases a true legend at his best

"Recorded and produced in 1996 and 1997 by blues enthusiast, Matthew Block, this very well may be Pinetop's only solo record. In it, he is able to really show off his great right-hand rolls and boogie woogie riffs. The album has a nice balance of ballads, blues and boogie with the air of an old-time barrelhouse session. This is a wonderful document of a blues artist still in his prime."
