INCREDIBLE; THE BEST ITALY CAN OFFER IN 60s FILM MUSIC

"You dig Nino Rota during the Dolce Vita years? Love that sultry, sexy, sad, suicidal feeling from too much sex, smoke and ennui on a burnished orange afternoon. GET THIS CD!!!!Piccioni is the little known genius of Italian cinema. He brought deep and serious jazz influences to Italian cinema in the early 50s with an INCREDIBLE CD named A TENTATIVE SENTIMENT (on CAM ITALIA) that is the "bomb" of all lounge CDs where cocktail music meets serious jazz meets despair and sex. This CD includes some choice cuts from SENILITA that are very Rota-esque, very melancholy early 60s Aren't we so-in-black-and-white-and-existential.Moreover, Piccioni is a master of pretty melodies that don't grow old in ten minutes. After you chew on this one, go to the CAM web site and order "UN TENTATIVO SENTIMENTALE" for some serious and classy melancholy sleaze."
Italian jazz? Not for me.

"I was intrigued by Piccioni's standout cuts on the great BEAT AT CINECITTA compilations, and captivated by the Mediterranean psychedelic langour of IL DIO SOTTO LA PELLE, and haunting, romantic CAMILLE 2000. FILM MUSIC is the first Piccioni CD that has disappointed me. Most of it is harsh, busy '60s jazz, with little of the intoxicating undertow of despair that defined his later, poignant music. Plus, many of the early tracks are mastered from noisy vinyl copies. The three short tracks from SENELITA are the exception; these haunting orchestrations resemble Milos Rosza's best. I recommend IL DIO SOTTO LA PELLE as a starting point, followed by CAMILLE 2000."
