The best prokofiev 3 out there

"the schumann is great. it has all that flair and charm that isn't found in Leif ove Andsnes' metronomical recording. However I think there was a little too much rubato for my taste.

The Prokofiev is absolutely the perfect recording. Cliburn doesn't rush the tempo like Argerich and many others, and the character of the piece is absolutely brilliant. Any other recordings I've listened to just seem like any other recordings. This is one of my favorite CDs."

"What a great pairing! I bought this CD because I loved Van Cliburn's Tchaikovsky #1/Rach #2 recording so much. I was not familiar with either of these pieces, but they are both GEMS!

The Schumann is now up there with the aforementioned pieces, Brahms #1 and Beethoven's #5 as my all-time favorite piano concerti. Just beautiful! And you just cannot go wrong with Van Cliburn. No one does romantic piano (well, maybe Horowitz for Chopin) like he does.

I'm not a big fan of "modern" classical music for the most part, but I love this Prokofiev #3! Not something you want to go to bed to, but an incredibly exciting piece with a pendulum-like rhythm that leaves you breathless!"
