"Kane Roberts' Phoenix Down project, AMERICAN RELEASE, to summarize. . .YES! DO NOT MISS IT! If you loved Kane Roberts' previous work, you'll love this collection! Along with the new material, he has re-released "Rebel Heart" from his "Saints and Sinners" album. The DIFFERENCE between the import and domestic versions is the additional two bonus tracks, "You Always Want It" and "Walking On Shadows". The CD sleeve of the import shows "Robot" but in truth it is just a short snippet between songs and is on other releases of the CD as well. I love his consistency. He always produces a polished product. Kane is working with a l-o-n-g list of musicians on this one including; Sam Blue, Steve Borden, Steve Steele, Jim Peterik, Chang Shapiro, Laughing Boy E., Rob Athas, Jim Jetski, Bubba Cashdollar, Gene Allen, Vinny Burns, Mike Slammer, Davis Jonzz, Steve Deboard, Vassell Fundell, Cha Cho Rodriguez, Greg Morgan, Mike Davis, Danny Boy, Arthur Funaro. I will also mention he's still working with Michael Wagener. Perhaps Mr. Wagener is responsible for a lot of that consistency I was speaking of. Kane's self titled "Kane Roberts" and his "Saints and Sinners" are at the top of my personal play list, and this one is going right up there with them. For those of you who haven't had the privilege of hearing any of his previous work. . .it's difficult to say he's "like" anybody else. He definitely has his own sound. I think more people know Kane as "Alice Cooper's guitarist". If you love melodic hard rock at it's best, I think you'll find Phoenix Down right up your alley. Pick up your copy of "Under a Wild Sky" today! While you're at it, check out Kane's other work and some of your other favorite melodic hard rock bands. I have many of the new releases reviewed. "Don't wait for a better day. Or you won't get there at all." -Kane Roberts- "I Want It Again" from the album "Under A Wild Sky""

"So this is it, the new project of Kane Roberts, former Alice Cooper guitarist and co-writer. There was his first release "Kane Roberts" in 1987, a second one in 1991 with the co-writer Desmond Child ("Angel", "I Was Made For Loving You", "Keep The Faith", "Poison") called "Saints And Sinners" and now after writing and playing for such acts as KISS, Dan Lucas, Rod Stewart and Berlin here we have him back with his new band. The second release of Feb. 2000 (jap.) include two bonus tracks which are for those who know his former work very interesting cause they are first versions of later released songs or rather contain parts of former songs. Even if he got rid of some of his muscle weight his music, vocals and style did not lose any intensity, quality, down and dirty lyrics nor wicked guitars . It just seems like that he is not capable of putting together a bad collection. For reasons I don't understand he has remained relatively obscure til his first solo album was re-released. Don't worry if this album is an older one, we all know some of the best are the older ones. This time along with the new material he has re-released "Rebel Heart" and "You Always Want It". Even if the production could be a little more polished the songwriting and playing is best I heard for a real hard long time. But as more and more folks of the 80's come back this is getting better a lot. K. Roberts worked with many well-known musicians and long time pals again: Desmond Child, Michael Wagener, Steve Steele, Jim Peterik, Gene Allen, Vinny Bruns, Mike Slamer, Arthur "Devlin 7" Funaro and last but not least Kane's left elbow on the keys ;-). For those of you who haven't been privileged of hearing any of his previous work ... it's difficult to say he's like anybody else. He definitely has his own sound and he got much more to offer than he did while working with Alice Cooper. Even if most people know him as his Rambo look-a-like guitarist shooting with a gun like guitar. He wrote most of the songs on his own and their style is spreading very far. The opener "Reckless" is just like its title and "Alive And Well" is the most emotional track on the cd. And also this cover art is by Kane Roberts himself. Finally let me say: Kane, we are lucky you left Lara and FF7 for a while and found your way back to the studio! ;-) - (don't mind this one!) Once you heard this album you will agree to one of its songs: I want it again ... and again ..."
