"Wow! Board By Board is Phil's first CD, but it has all the benchmarks of a seasoned recording artist! My first impression of the CD is how wonderfully diverse it is, within the broad category of "Folk." There are Jazz tunes here, like "Colleen" and "Bluff," Dave Matthews-inspired tunes like "Winter's End" and "Long Ride," as well as the thoughtful ballads you expect from folk, such as "Morning Guitar" and "Give Up The Ghost." The instrumentalists on the disc really make it the musical masterpiece that it is. There is a sax player who doubles on flute, and a drummer who is plays interesting and artful patterns which are not the same old "Back-Beat." This is great music! Check it out!"
