"Wow, now THIS is quite an album! If ever there was an album to prove to people who hate progressive rock that yes, the genre DOES have some really good bands and albums, Per un Amico is probably the ultimate example of great songwriting, exciting arrangements, and solid enjoyment.

This album has a mood that shifts around constantly from heavenly to beautiful, to dark and haunting, all while keeping your attention the entire way. I hear influences of King Crimson, Emerson, Lake and Palmer, Caravan, Yes and Jethro Tull (strangely enough, not Genesis however) not to mention a few surprising moments, such as an Irish-sounding arrangement on "Generale" and Beach Boys-like vocals on "Geranio".

Don't worry about the fact the vocals are in Italian. If you don't know the language, it doesn't matter because the amazingly large variety of musical instruments, and the diverse style of songwriting will win you over very quickly. I especially love how the entire album was worked on carefully to make every song as perfect as possible.

I'd say the most obvious influence is early King Crimson, by the way the flutes sound and the pleasant vibes in the atmosphere (similar to Crimson's first album) and the only negative I can find with Per un Amico is that it's really short. That's how you know an album is good when there's not enough of it. Fantastic album."

"Ever been asked "What is Prog" ?

This is. This is one of those albums that defines the category."
As some one put it a masterpiece.

"I had the album when it first came out, I thought it was great then and I feel it is still a classic piece of music now!"
