CD Reviews

Great retrospective
11/12/1998
(5 out of 5 stars)

"This is a wonderful Petula Clark retrospective. In addition to many pre-Downtown era songs never released in the US, this collection includes a full album of Tony Hatch compositions that was never released at all - and it's great material! This collection really shows Petula's evolution as a song stylist."
I Love to Sing (Box Set)

(5 out of 5 stars)

"This box set has it all. The pre-Downtown songs, "Saturday Sunshine" is a gem and the 70's songs that didn't chart. The price of the set is worth it for the Trent/Hatch composition "The Only One To LOve Me" which was given to English singer Anita Harris, but Pet's version is almost religious. The sound quality is superb, and the whole set only emphasises her remarkable versatility. It's all here and it is good, very, very good"
Magnificent

"Of all popular music stars, Petula Clark has been most extensively reissued. This set is remarkable as it rounds up all the major hits and album tracks plus some absolutely amazing previously-unreleased music. The depth, breadth and appeal of Pet's music has never been more apparent, and the topnotch quality of her arrangers, conductors and producers equally apparent. A thrill from start to finish."
