One of the dreamiest indie records of 2007/2008

"If you're constantly on the prowl for special little bands that no one has ever heard of, artists with that special magical something, then take advantage (while you can) of little-known European twee crooner Peter Von Poehl, whose gentle pop sound is as addictive as anything you'll hear this year. Originally from Sweden, Von Poehl has become a cult figure in the booming French indie scene, particularly for his work with the equally-dreamy novelist-songwriter Vincent Delerm. Von Poehl's first solo album has several songs that will burrow into your brain and echo in your mind for weeks on end. It's the kind of music that you can't take off the stereo and need to absorb nonstop until you burn it out of your system. Comparisons to Nick Drake or Donovan, while cliched with others, are apt for Von Poehl. The whispery vocals, orchestral-pop-with-a-beat and hallucinogenic lyrics of the title track, as well as the mystical, visionary "Story of the Impossible" is music that has inspired ardent fans in Europe, and is sure to do the same here in the States. Right now, he's just our little secret... but not for long! (DJ Joe Sixpack, Slipcue music guide)"
