CD Reviews

Even for a young 21 year old, this music is very nostalgic.

"When i was 21, my bittersweet older boyfriend played me this record. Where do you go to my lovely...To this day, i am deeply moved whenever i hear this tune. So simple, so tender, so real. For those who have ever felt heartache, this song captures it beautifully. You'll struggle to recognize it, it sounds so familiar, so old but current, you'll swear you've heard it before, somewhere, another place, long ago. It's nostalgia at its best, perhaps a song that sings within the broken-hearted. Ironically my mum heard this song playing in my room, she recognized it. She remembered this tune playing in England when she was younger. For a moment, i think the generation gaps were silent, as we shared a romantic feeling of 'knowing'....this is one of the most romantic sad love songs of all times. The other songs are just as magical, but this one is in a class of its own. Like with hidden treasures, consider yourself lucky if you should happen to come across this song. Dance to this melody & fairy tales come to life, once again."
An unexpected treasure.

"The song, "Where Do You Go To, My Lovely" has been haunting me for about 30 years. I bought the CD willing to pay the price to get that one song. This CD is full of good stuff. "Letter to a Friend" hits close to home. ( A bulls eye, actually) though the exact circumstances may differ, we all have a close friend that we've treated unfairly. Of the two dozen or so tunes on the disc, there are none that I'll skip. I don't know why Peter Sarstedt isn't more widely known."
A nice compilation, but...

"This is a nice reasonable price compilation (poor booklet), but notice that

"where do you go to my lovely" is re-recording.

But, if you also pick up "Singer and songwriter" collection (tracks are originals),I think you have 5star compilation."
