Synopsis

Product Description
Hop in your musical time capsule, and set your chronometer to Boston, mid-late 1970?s. Peter Dayton and art school friends founded the now legendary local Boston punk band, La Peste. They blasted through the Boston scene with raging songs like ?Better Off Dead?, and won the WBCN Battle of the Bands. After awhile, Peter felt like he was in a punk rut, and with punk quickly becoming passe´ in favor of new wave, he left La Peste to start The Peter Dayton Band. More creative songwriting and a less edgy live show led to recordings produced by The Cars? Ric Ocasek, and The Rings? Mike Baker. After afew years Peter moved to Europe, where he gained some notoriety with his music. The solo recordings from Boston sat on the shelf in the archives for 16 years. In the meantime, Peter had moved to Long Island, and was pursuing his art career. With New York gallery showings, and great press, he was quickly becoming an ?a-list? artist. Ted St.Pierre, who had engineered the Boston recordings, contacted Peter about the archival material, to see if he was interested in re-mixing some of the songs while the old reel-to-reel technology was still available. Many of the songs were re-mixed in 1996, but still never released ... until now. Like Peter?s art, these songs are fresh, positive, and fun.

CD Reviews

Not as good as the original

(3 out of 5 stars)

"I liked Peter Dayton, and owned the LP in the 80's. I thought that my tastes had changed when I listened to "Stuck on the Same Refrain." It was more vapid than I had recalled, but then I pulled out the old LP, and the original was much more dynamic. Too bad that they did not use the recordings that were originally released for the CD."
