Synopsis

Album Description
Best Children?s Recording of the Year Winner, Peter Alsop has done it again. This time it?s a Workout music for kids. Peter Alsop?s Did You Walk? Workout is great for PE teachers, or family walks! Humor and physical conditioning! Alsop?s fun-loving tone is set in the very first piece, ?Stretch The Leader?. One of the kids announces to Peter that they want to lead the warm up exercises for a change. Alsop agrees and groans along as the kids lead the stretches, (including lips and eyebrows!). ?Did You Walk?? has catchy, foot-tappin? rhythms and a surprising variety of musical styles, from parade music to blues, choral arrangements with a back beat, hip-hop grooves, to world beat. Lots of drums and percussion, from dumbek to congas and bongos, to Japanese daiko drums and tymbales. During the ?The Giggles Samba? Peter and the kids run into Mrs. McFrown who tries to get them to walk in a line and take physical conditioning seriously, which only makes the kids giggle more. Mrs. McFrown decides to join them and actually manages to smile. In ?The Affirmation Alphabet? the kids yell a letter, and Peter says as many affirming positive words as he can. We hear so many negative things about ourselves growing up, that it takes a heap of positive ones to balance them out. ?After The Rain? is a gentle cool down piece with piano, cello and viola, and ?The Prize? is a wonderful poem read by Daniel, one of the kids, who doesn?t like competition. It brings up many of the issues that surround sporting events, so we can discuss them with our kids. ?My Body Runs? is a hip-hop type song about how amazing our bodies truly are, and how they know how to run themselves without us having to think about it. The music makes you want to move, the content is fun, creative and will generate discussion.
