The PSB go to NYC
Adrian Thacker | 02/07/2000

"OK, first thing's first. Track listing.1) Radio Edit - 3:352) The Superchumbo Uptown Mix - 9:453) The Superchumbo Downtown Dub - 7:444) The Almighty Definitve Mix - 6:315) The Almighty Man On A Mission Mix - 6:496) The Thunderpuss 2000 Club Mix - 10:557) The Thunderdub - 8:218) The Morales Club Mix - 10:549) The Lange Mix - 7:06My favorite mix by far is the "Superchumbo Uptown Mix", it brings the song down a couple of notches from the Village People inspired disco fodder which is the original, giving it a harder edged feel and making it much more accessable to anyone who is not as disco-influenced. Don't get me wrong, it does have it's disco elements (The chorus is enough to have all of those 70's disco queens a freakin' on the dancefloor), but it takes away from the cheesiness of the original. As a matter of fact, most of the remixes manage to veer off into new territory and making this one a much harder club kicker than the Morales original mix, or the Morales extended mix (which appears on this disc).Easily one of my favorite club songs of 1999/2000. If you are a fan of the PSB, you should already own this one, and if you're not, this might make you one."
First U.S. single from "NIGHTLIFE" album
Michael Eugene Adams | Atlanta, Georgia | 11/11/1999
(5 out of 5 stars)

"The first U.S. single from the Pet Shop Boys NIGHTLIFE album is a decent dance-floor stomper, replete with a radio edit and eight extended versions by Superchumbo, Almighty, TP2K, David Morales, and Lange, nearly maxing out the CD. The catchy lyrics and the melody evoke their 1993 cover of "Go West.""
Disco is back with a vengenace!

"If you love the sound of disco and the beat of dance music...this is a must have. It sounds like the Village People meet the Pet Shop Boys. I couldn't stop listening to this maxi single. The whole cd is very upbeat and danceable. The Almighty Definitive Mix and Thunderpuss 2000 Club Mix are the BOMB! I could dance all night long!"
