Synopsis

Product Description
Perry Como left a treasury of recordings from his career on the famed RCA/Victor record label. Following his string of number one popular hits in the 1950s and '60s, he was known later in his career as the unofficial voice of Christmas. With yearly seasonal television specials set around the globe, Como charmed millions with his heartwarming interpretations of Christmas classics. This compilation showcases some of those more memorable recordings including Santa Claus Is Coming To Town, Toyland, Do You Hear What I Hear, O Holy Night, Ave Maria, and more.

CD Reviews

Not Comprehensive but Great
Bernard Chapin | CHICAGO! USA | 12/27/2008
(5 out of 5 stars)

"Well, you could say that this CD is too short. I suppose that it is but high marks have to given to it because it contains the classics "God Rest Ye Merry Gentleman" and "Oh, Come All Ye Faithful" which I now notice that some of the longer compilations do not (for whatever reason) include. I got to Perry Como rather late in life, but regard his voice as being among the most beautiful that I've ever heard. This is particularly the case for one of my all-time favorite songs--his version of O Holy Night. Honestly, when I first heard it I felt as if God had walked into the room. His Ave Maria is also superb in my mind. I even prefer his recording over those of the famous opera singers. Overall, there's not a song on here that isn't great. Perry Como and the Charlie Brown CD sit at the top of my treasured Christmas list. Perry Como is THE man when it comes to interpreting the more serious and religious Christmas songs."
An abbreviated collection of Como's Christmas songs

"This CD has only 10 of Perry Como's songs on it. If you like Perry Como, you should get a bigger collection, or buy this one for no more than $6 brand new. It is a small album, but if you're a big fan you could pay a small price for it and be happy with it."
