Great Swinging Ella & Basie

"Is this Ella's best album? No, but it's still very good. What does it have going for it? Good old standards along with a couple of new songs, Basie's tight and muscular big band, and Ella singing and swinging her way through it in style. This was recorded in 1979, so Ella's voice is not quite as supple as it was in her prime. But as long as she and Basie can swing, everything's ok. In fact, I love this CD!"

"I guess it doesn't matter how old Ella and Duke were at this recording.. If you close your eyes when listening to this CD you'd swear this was the fabulous fifties.... They are both at the best of their game at the time.... I've listened to this CD so much it's probably worn out!!@

Don't hesitate to get this one.... it's fabulous......"
