Synopsis

Product Description
n this year of all things Beatles, it made sense to reissue the album that saw Peggy Lee join forces with Paul McCartney! The story goes like this: In early 1974, Peggy had Paul and Linda McCartney over for dinner, and instead of bringing flowers or wine, the ex-Beatle brought a song written specifically for her, Let s Love! Thus was this album project born, Peggy s first for Atlantic after her long stint at Capitol. And, as befits an album recorded for one of the great R&B labels, Peggy took a more soulful tack, tackling material like the gospelly toe-tapper Sweet Lov liness, the samba Sweet Talk and a funky version of Irving Berlin's timeless Always. That s Paul McCartney producing and playing piano on the title cut, too. Jim Ritz s notes tell the story of this most fortuitous marriage. A Collectors Choice Music exclusive!

CD Reviews

Soulful 70's gem...Bravo Peggy Lee!!!
Bradly Briggs | TOLUCA LAKE, CALIFORNIA | 03/17/2010
(5 out of 5 stars)

"Peggy Lee was always progressive in song selection & this sublime collection of soulful performances is a fine example of how Peggy didn't want to stand in cob-webs singing only old songs from the past...sadly the "older" audience didn't get it but baby-boomer fans did & wore out old vinyl copies so "Let's Love" is a welcomed release on compact-disc! A limited edition of "Let's Love" quickly sold out so hats off to Collector's Choice for releasing this sublime set from the legendary singer who is in great form making these contemporary songs her own...evergreen "Always" is given a fresh new funky spin and it works. Paul McCartney grandly produced fine title song "Let's Love" featuring a stunning & haunting vocal from Peggy that would have been a huge hit if released in the great musical sixties but by tired singer/songwriter/disco seventies, radio no longer programmed a great song by a great singer so "Let's Love" didn't achieve commercial success deserved but in no way does this take from the quality of these enjoyable to experience over & over special performances from Miss Lee that hold up all these years later...enjoy & Bravo to Miss Peggy Lee for her adventuresome spirit & creative genius!"
