"I was introduced to the Peatbog Faeries through a novel that I read. Based in Ireland and England, the novel alluded to two great celtic bands, one of which was the Peatbog Faeries (of Scotland). One internet search later, and I was drooling over their album "Croftwork." I bought that, and then progressed to "Welcome to Dunvegas" and then "What Men Deserve to Lose."

"Faerie Stories" is one of the group's earlier albums, and is just as phenomenal as anything they've done. I'm ecstatic it's available on mp3 downloads now, after really lusting after it for several months... The price of imported CDs is a little daunting for my student finances... But the mp3 album is a great deal for some great music.

The PBF's style is a wild combination of many different forms of music. One of my favourite descriptions of the band comes from last.fm, which calls PBF's style as "psychedelic bagpipe funk." The accuracy of this description varies somewhat over their albums (and over individual songs), but it certains sounds fun, eh? Their style can also be called celtic techno, or jazz-electronica-rock-folk fusion. Or just 'every genre ever all mixed up into one awesome grab-bag of musical goodness.'

Truly one of my favourite musical groups. So glad it's available on Amazon mp3. It's getting easier to feed my love of PBF. All we need now is for the group to tour the States! (hint, hint)"

"I LOVE this band! The music is hip and traditional at once. Even my high-school students like this music, and they ask me to play the CD almost every day, although they don't really enjoy my other Scottish music. This is truly a fusion-band, and the wail of pipes along with the great thundering bass beats of the drums make me want to down a wee dram of Talisker's and dance the night away!"

"Wow, all I have to say is that I was looking for something like this! As an avid fan of both modern Celtic and Techno/Trance music, I think the Peatbogs fuse both in a very pleasing and sophisticated way. This is the future of modern Celtic music. I am surprised that it is not more well known in the United States. Thanks to Putumayo's "Celtic Crossroads" CD, I discovered it, otherwise I might have never had the pleasure of their music.

Please note that I copied my review here from another edition of this CD that has been discontinued. Same music, though!"
