CD Reviews

What's good here is great!

"I'm a huge Pearl Bailey fan, so I am glad just to have a cd with 25 of her songs on it. And this is a very uneven mix. (If you don't really know her that well, buy For Adults or the Very Best of first, as they are better introductions to her true talent.) Some of the songs are so-so at best, but the good songs ("Legalize My Name," "Saturday Night Fish Fry," "Row, Row, Row" chief among them) are great fun to listen to. She does a great read of a couple of classics, like "Ain't She Sweet?" and "As Long as I Live," and her give-and-take with Frank Sinatra on "A Little Learnin' is a Dangerous Thing" is PRICELESS Pearl Bailey, as well as a great chance to hear Frank Sinatra have a little fun. It is this duet that bumps my rating from 3 to 4 stars and it, in my opinion, is worth the price of the cd if you're a P.B. fan!"

"This is one of several cd purchased. I am country but heard her and Dinah Shore singing and I really liked her voice and individual style. Enjoying in car and at home."
