CD Reviews

Fans of Hot Chocolate may protest....
Joshua B. Kittleman | adrian, MI USA | 06/12/2006

"...the use of so many java references. However, as a hot chocolate lover, as well as a lover of great music, I am more than satisfied with PBM's latest effort. The horns are tight, and brilliant as ever, and the songs are fun and catchy. I haven't heard so many good hooks on an album in a longtime.

Particular Favorites are 'When Mark Met Jen', 'Password', and 'Whatever Sells'.

The music and the band rock it out on this album. Nate Castle's voice is distinct and unlike the carbon-copy lead singer prototype, and the horns bring out the best in the music without being overpowering.

My small critique on the album comes from the mixing/recording, as the vocals don't reach the listener as crisply and neatly as I might like. While it probably reflects PBM's genre of music and live sound better, I like my music shiny and polished. The album's production doesn't get to that level.

Overall, though, I'm not quite satisfied with just 'one sip', but gulp after gulp of this album. That was cheesy. But true."
It's all about the music

"Holy cow, I was like a little kid on Christmas when I was tearing open the package on this album. From the first G Chord on When Mark Met Jen, to the final beat on Monday Afternoon, this album is solid all the way through. A nice balance of fast paced horn driven rock, to softer smooth vocals. Love the insert, all the band members as cartoons is a great idea. Love to see this band live, and they deliver the energy of the show into the environment of the studio. If you are into horns, witty lyrics, great guitars, and all around fun music, One Sip at A Time by PBM is a must have for your collection."
