CD Reviews

The Mighty Proess of Paxton
alan j. sandler | 11/28/1999
(4 out of 5 stars)

"Paxton seems diametrically oposite to many other bands, his/their sound is strong and melodic, catchy and (dare I say) at times perhaps melancholy. Paxton sounds unlike a gerbil, why I would compare Paxton to a gerbil I do not know, his sound is cleaner than that of gerbils (or any other superstar rodents). Paxton has the potential to reach worldwide acclaim through hooks that catch on your conscience and songs that linger in the hallways of ones mind for the next few days...."

"a really great folk pop rock album that all discerning music fans should own."
A Rock Album That Tears Me Away From My Disco
Thomas M. Keane | New York, NY United States | 06/08/2001
(4 out of 5 stars)

"As a 30-something disco-frequenting queer, a chance encounter with this album was a welcome relief from heavy bass lines and a return to the rock music I grew up with. John & Joe is a powerful rock ballad that evokes gay life in NYC's East Village (imagine a more musically sophisticated gay counter-part to Rent, perhaps) in the pre-protease era, while Fatherless will speak to any guy who's been estranged from his dad (and who hasn't been?). A real refreshing return to rock, with a definite queer vibe."
