"On his first solo outing after leaving Bad Company in 1983, Paul really comes into his own. He plays every instrument on this album himself, and he sounds refreshed to be liberated from the confines of a band atmosphere. True, he may not be as great on every instrument as his Bad Company/The Firm/et al counterparts, and the production leaves something to be desired, but this album is definitely worth purchasing. The opener, "Fragile", is a scorching rocker, followed by the free-spirited title track. Paul does sound overjoyed to be "Cut Loose" indeed. The album also features the world-peace plea "Live In Peace", so befitting for today, which he later rearranged with The Firm for their 1986 release, "Mean Business". The song has more impact here, however, due to a sparser arrangement. Make no mistake, Paul isn't making no massive musical statement here, just good music. This is classic rock at its best. Unfortunately for Paul, the age of new wave swept this album under the carpet when it was released in 1983. Now, almost 20 years later, it sounds remarkably refreshing in spite of its own limitations."

"Paul Rodgers posesses one of the all-time greatest voices in rock music. He plays every instrument on his 1st solo effort since leaving Bad Company. Although he is not terrifc at any one, he certainly can hold is own on all of them. There are some great songs on this disc and you can go wrong with Paul Rodgers singing."
