CD Reviews

Disc 1 is Classic

(5 out of 5 stars)

"I own about seven Oakenfold albums and have been following his career for some time now. Disc One of the Oslo set is beautiful with a worldly feel featuring dark, moody textures. Elysian Fields is a spooky opener that sets the drum & bass tone tone of the set on disc one. Trippin' on Broken Beats adds a jazz element to the beats, then on to the moody Beyond Therapy and Alaska with drum & bass beats persisting, with a psychedelic, India vibe... then a beautiful piano solo bridging into Music for the Lonely by Jamie Myerson puts you on some sort of twisted production line. Olive's You are Not Alone continues with the industrial drum & bass vibe. After some progressive trance from Bedrock comes the track "Reach" by Lil Mo Ying Yang (Basement Jaxx Firecracker Remix), which is an amazing, chaotic track with primal screams, firecrackers and sirens going off. The remainder of the set is brisk trance.

This album will probably disappoint those fans who are fond of Oakenfold's driving Tranceport style. It will appeal to those looking for a moody global journey from the mind of Paul Oakenfold."
Some of the best Oaky

"How can you describe Oakenfold?? A legend to trance music... I'll admit all of his stuff isn't that great (especially his newer stuff including Creamfields) but none-the-less Oakenfold brings a unique trance style that is unmatched by other mainstream DJ's. Global Underground OSLO is one of the best DJ mixes I have ever heard. If you want to have an intense night of dancing to some intense house-ish trance this CD is definitely worth it. From start to finish it keeps you engaged in the music - never a boring moment. The vocal trance that is also mixed in is the cherry on top (may be bias! - i am huge vocal trance fan).

If you are an Oakenfold fan and want something better than Creamfields or Bunkka -- THIS IS A MUST BUY."
