Synopsis

Album Description
The lines "We were doomed from the start" and "We all fall" bookend Paul Jacobsen's debut CD "You Might Regret You Ever Cared," giving the listener an overwiew of what takes place inside. If not terribly optimistic, Jacobsen's music - for all its ringing, lonely ache - may surprise you with its hopeful undercurrents. Though he shows a penchant for the sound of the lonesome whistle, he 's the first to concede that- at very least - the train is headed somewhere. He's also the first to admit that he's not all that sure exactly where that somewhere is. Maybe that somewhere isn't as important as the journey. Jacobsen's honest, stark songwriting along with his pure baritone and subtle guitar work evoke the graveyard folk of Nick Drake and the Americana yearning of Ryan Adams.

CD Reviews

Rock solid, acoustic banging, introspection.

"If you're a fan of Ryan Adams and those who can put together thoughts and music in a combination of simple, pure rock, you'll love Paul. I was introduced to Paul's music by a friend of his at Purdue who actually wrote the lyrics to one of the songs on this album. There's a hint of Wilco and the Jayhawks in his music, a combination for greatness. The success of the music on this album is that it is untouched by producing pressure; it gives those who listen a feel of pure simplicity and understanding to all those who have loved, lost, loved again, and maybe lost again. It'll strike a cord...
