Paul Desmond with Milt Jackson, John Lewis, Percy Heath and Connie Kay. This album was recorded at Town Hall, New York, Dec 24, 1971 as well as the concert at Philadelphia Opera House, PA, summer 1992. This CD presents a one-off concert that took place during one of the Modern Jazz Quartet's annual appearances at Town Hall in New York when Paul Desmond was invited to perfrom as a guest artist for the second half of their 1971 Christmas Day concert. This is the only known recording of Desmond playing with the full MJQ. To round off the CD there is also a bonus of a complete set played by the MJQ at the Philadelphia Opera during the summer of 1992. Splendid sound quality and 20-bit remastering.14 tracks.
