Synopsis

Product Description
Paul and Friends is a recording and concert group. This is their second CD and was recorded primarily in New Orleans, LA, with additional recording being done in Australia and Mississippi. It is a benchmark for the group - six years in the making, with excellent production. Sammarco calls it smooth rock/smooth jazz-rock - as smooth as a baby s butt. Music to chill out by and warm your soul. Beautiful melodies, complex chordal structures, great lead vocals, complex background vocal harmonies (up to 11 parts!), and great instumentalists. Features 22 of the finest musicians around: Todd Adams, Des Anthony (Three s Company), Kurt Brunus (The Kurt Brunus Project), Tracy Griffin (Allen Toussaint and Friends), Carol Hart (Hart-to-Hart), Martin Hart (Hart-to-Hart, Three s Company), Roger Kimball (Soul Survivors), Mark Liuzza (Benny Grunch), Larry Martin, Ben Melancon (Unmerited Favor), Lindsay Melancon, Brian O Neill (Bonerama), Clyde Pellegrin, Curtis Pierre (Casa Samba), Joe Raines (Full FX), Hank Randle (Soul Survivors), Donna Sammarco (Dept. Performing Arts, Nicholls State University), Paul W. Sammarco (Ginger Mick, Three s Company, Little Ripper Band), Jerome Theriot (US Army Band; Soul Survivors; Jazz Plus), Steve Theriot (Kevin Koike Blues Band), Mark Trennecosta (Benny Grunch), and June Yamagushi (Papa Grows Funk). Lead singers: Lindsay, Martin, and Joe. Features eight originals: Smooth Sailing (6-part a cappella) and Just One More Time (tribute to Brian Wilson and the Beach Boys); What s the Matter with That? , (a heavy no-nuke tune); Drift Away (beautiful pop tune); Willie (vocal jazz-rock); Have You Ever Seen...? (another beaut pop tune); Brunch in the Big Easy (instrumental jazz-rock; dedicated to the spirit of New Orleans); and Thanks for Being There (new version w. Martin singing lead). Three classic standards as well: "Helplessly Hoping" by Stephen Stills (tribute to Crosby, Stills, and Nash), "In My Life" by Lennon and McCartney, and a ja

"Love jazz music and if you love it too, you'll enjoy this album. The musicians and singers are local to Louisiana. Great music!"
Amazing CD

"I happen to hear Steven Still's "Helplessly Hoping" on this Smooth Sailing CD and was amazed how clean it sounded. I listened to the rest of the CD and made a couple of other impressive discoveries. There is a great song called "Brunch in the Big Easy". There is a female vocalist that is outstanding appearing in many of the arrangements. Several other songs in the CD merit listening to. In all, it is a fantastic collection of smoth jazz and easy listening blues, and ballads.

Loved the Smooth Sailing CD

"The Smooth Sailing CD - from Paul and Friends - is an incredible CD. I loved their first CD - Hang on to Your Dreams - and this second one is even more amazing. The group who perform on this CD combine great musical gifts as vocalists and musicians. The song writing (both music and lyrics) by Paul shows such talent and true feelings from the heart. Paul's original songs are creative and heart warming and the arrangements of a few well known songs are so beautifully done. I have enjoyed many hours of listening to this CD! You should try this one!"
