Product Description PASSAFIRE RELEASES EVERYONE ON EVERYNIGHT ON SEPTEMBER 15, 2009 Passafire will release Everyone on Everynight through LAW Records on September 15, 2009. This is the follow-up to their sophomore album, Submersible, which was recognized by iTunes as one of the Top 10 Best Reggae Albums of 2007. Their Myspace views are over a half a million with total song plays numbering over a million. Calling Savannah, GA home, Passafire was formed in 2003 by students attending Savannah College of Art and Design. After performing on a stage outside Atlanta s Hi Fi Buys Amphitheatre in 2006 where the hybrid rock band, Pepper, was opening for 311, a member of Passafire slipped to Pepper a copy of the band s self-titled debut album, Passafire. Pepper had just founded the independent LAW Records with plans to selectively recruit and nurture bands they actually experienced and were impressed by while out on the road - as opposed to sitting in some distant office and combing through piles of demos. We re out there every day, meeting and playing with new bands, says Pepper bassist/singer, Bret Bollinger. It s not a guessing game. We get to meet them, watch them live... And spot their work ethic, Singer/guitarist, Kaleo Wassman interjects with emphasis, Passafire developed their sizable fanbase by logging miles all over the US (particularly, in the southeast), which attracted the established booking agent, Monterey International who has taken the band to the next level of touring. Passafire has performed with a variety of major acts including The Wailers, Van Halen, Israel Vibrations, 311, Toots and the Maytals, Los Lonely Boys, Bares Hammond, John Brown s Body, Matisyahu, the Aggrolites and Dub Trio. The band lives on the road, playing live throughout the year. Singer, Ted Bowne doesn t mind the grueling schedule and adds, Touring is the best way to keep the buzz about the band going. What keeps it fun and exciting is the people we meet and places we get to see. We are in a new city every day so there's always something to go see or do. If we didn't tour constantly, we wouldn't be doing as well as we are. That's a fact. After two years since the last album and more than 300 shows, conceptualizing all the while, Passafire recorded the new album at the Sonic Ranch in El Paso, Texas. Self-described total gear heads, the band has built on the foundation of Passafire and Submersible an adventurous expansion, an ironic twist that reaches into previously unexplored sonic territories while taking full advantage of the warmth and accessibility of analog technologies that this studio provided. Horns appear on three tracks and throughout singer, Ted Bowne, plays on a variety of classic guitars paired with vintage tube amps while Adam Willis is off in keyboardist s heaven, incorporating the venerable Hammond B3 as well as the Fender Rhodes and Wurlitzer electric pianos. The brothers, Will and Nick Kubley anchor their rhythm section. I've been a big fan of this band ever since I saw them opening up for Authority Zero, their live show is very fun and emotion is in the air. This is Passafire's 3rd studio album, I believe this is their most mature and strongest effort yet. A 4-piece band(guitar/vocals,keys,drums,bass) they have been evolving their sound with each album, from their first album full of old school reggae/dub vibes to the new album, full of new and old school, with plenty of memorable melodies. I'm not a very experienced reviewer, I won't go into great detail about each song but I highlight the best album qualities(kinda hard...this whole album is really good). Casting of the cares-wonderful opening, sets the mood for the entire experience, it's even got a nice rockin guitar solo towards the end! Keeping in touch-What a wonderful mellow reggae tune, it's going to send you to a happy place, I promise, the vocal performance in this is my favorite on the album. It also has some nice keys too. Lay Awake-Starts off with a descending rock riff, almost funky in nature The keys and bass carry the funkish/rock riff and slows down, until the mid-end of the song where...one of the most awesome things in music I have ever heard happens...Very simplistic drums, one crash after each other, carrying the keyboard beat to a whole nother' dimension while the guitar does a neat solo. Illuminate-Upbeat drums start, while a hard rock riff is played on guitar in bass, making you want to jump, as the keyboard plays a triumphant riff that might make you want to rave! The drums carry the rest of the song, which is weird considering all the other songs they have done. Towards the end of the song it breaks it down a little and introduces the first horns ever heard on a Passafire song, they are majestic and add a whole nother' level to the song! Overall a very upbeat song, the keys are great and drums are too, plus it's got an awesome rock riff thrown in here and there, awesome! Here in front of me-It's got a dub feel, the intro is very melodic. that's for sure, but the chorus is all rock! The vocals make you want to sing along, the voicing is just magical. Not to mention the keys add a lot to the chorus and just makes it a better song, I can't imagine the song with out it. Overall a driving song, and the only time Passafire uses a fade-out in a song, which isn't that bad. 49th-A fairly laid back track for the most part, enjoyable singing melody and at the end...wow awesome buildup! Carouser-Wow, what in intro! A bass riff and drum beat combo that is sure to make you jump up in down. It breaks off into a nice slow beat that has you finger tapping along with it while the vocals add a pleasing element to the song. Overall a very high energy song, sure to make you bob your head a little! Queen of spades-The intro keys are very old school, a very nice note progression, making you tap your feet with the beat. This song a little more laid back, and possibly one of the weaker tracks(though I love all the songs on this album) the solo at the end is fairly fun. You're here-Starts off with a spacey guitar progression, overall it is pretty spacey, though still grounds you with interesting effects and progressions The king-OLD SCHOOL, this is all I have to say about this track...but all in all it's a tribute to one of the founders of reggae music, tells a story of his life, memorable vocal melodies, almost like a lullaby. This song also has horns! Leaving the lights on-Well...this song starts off straight up in your face. A tremendous riff that was prolly given from the heavens, it makes you want to go crazy and punch things! It's got an awesome solo and is prolly the heaviest they have ever done. This song is best if you are just looking for a rocker. Prelectricity-The album closer, fairly slow and spacey, but picks up at the end, breaking into a bass progression, then distorted guitar that will make you want to rock out with your **** out lol. Then abruptly ends. The mix of the album is amazing, the drummer pounds the crap out of the drums and adds a lot of depth to the songs, everything is mixed so well! Try blasting this with your best speakers/headphones, you won't be disappointed!" |
