Synopsis

Album Description
Soon after announcing his retirement from Nerf Herder in 2003, front man Gripp was offered an opportunity to write a jingle to promote frozen waffles that come with their own dipping sauce. That led to this, his first solo CD featuring over 50 little ditties in various musical styles that will have you either rolling on the floor, or will give you a serious case of the munchies.

CD Reviews

Best Album So Far This Year? I'm Serious.
The Judge of the Value of all Enter | Area | 05/10/2005
(5 out of 5 stars)

"This album was worth what I paid for it before I even popped it in the CD player. My first belly laugh came at reading, on the sticker that comes on every new release, that it featured "Great Nachos, Great Price." That's quite a bold statement of a lead single, but then none of the other FIFTY tracks on this CD crosses back behind that line of "so unabashedly commercial that it ceases to be marketable." More laughs pre-listen: the liner notes. I suggest reading these through, listening to the album, and then reading them again. They only get funnier once you've heard the music. Every single song has a little explanation of who Parry ripped off and what he was thinking of when he wrote it. And he makes invaluable observations like: "I just can't picture Morrissey having a beer with his lady." Me either.

Aside from the hours and hours of laughter you will get from listening to songs like "Do You Like Waffles?," "Maybe You Need A New Deodorant," and "More Blades = Better Shave," (this album is up there with the Tenacious D CD for funniest recorded music ever) the most amazing thing about this album is that these 51 songs, most of which fall into the 30-50 second range, contain a greater range of guitar riffs, catchy vocal melodies, and genre experiments than the entire careers of 95% of commercially popular rock bands. Parry cuts through the garbage and admits that simplistic four chord riffs are not neccessarily worthy of 3 to 4 minute long songs. But wow, 51 compressed versions of that same formula in 35 minutes is an experience you'll never forget."

"THAT you can count on. Buy this. If you don't like it you have no sense of humor. Nerf Herder rules and so does Parry.

Standing in line at the grocery store will never be the same again.

Eating at Kentucky Fried Chicken will never be the same again.

Oh and If you don't shower after sports you'll smell like a hot summer day in bangladesh!

And European Football rules!"

"If you don't know who Parry Gripp is, he is one of the greatest song writers of all time. His work with his band Nerf Herder has more pop culture refrances than a TV show On E!. Parry's Solo Album For Those About To Shop, We Salute You. Is the exact same. If you like catchy poppy punk look no further. Parry Gripp is the best at what he does. If it came down to it who would win in a fight Weezers Rivers Cummo or Parry Gripp? I would put every penny I have on Parry Gripp."
