Darius Milhaud is a composer whose music reflects his heritage of Provence in the south of France. Full of bright, beautiful melodies, he captures the Mediterranean spirit in music. ;Saudades do Brazil; was specifically composed to invoke wonderful reminiscences of Brazil. This work is a collection of twelve tangos, each titles after a specific site of Rio de Janeiro. ;Cantate de la Guerre; is a world premiere recording written in 1940 during the German occupation of France in World War II. ;Aspen Serenade was written as a tribute to Aspen, Colorado. Elinor Armer: Api is a new work. Ms. Armer studied with Milhaud at Mill College. This is a work which relates through music the life of a honey bee - interesting in that it clearly reflects the influence of Milhaud's teaching.
