CD Reviews

Great sounding album!
Felix L. Rodriguez | MADRID, Spain | 05/08/2007
(4 out of 5 stars)

"Although Paquito Guzman has been one of my favorites singers for ages, it is not until I bought this CD that I have bought an album where he is the solo/lead performer. (I have always appreciated enormously his singing skills while making choruses for other Salsa greats, such as Tommy Olivencia, Orq. Zodiac, etc., etc.).

THe first five songs are great, in my opinion. And I just had heard one of them. Which makes it very strange, because normally it takes me a long time to like songs on most albums I purchase, if I have not heard the songs, previously. That did not happen with those first 5 songs. Then there are a couple of songs I do not like that much, and there, prior to the end, there is two other neat ones.

The sound mastering done to this album is fabulous!! Although most of these songs, I think, were recorded in the 80's, I can honestly say that they sound here better produced and recorded than most songs you hear today. WOw!!

As a stepping stone into knowing this great singer, in my opinion, this is a great start.

Enjoy!

The Salsa Romantica genre's greatest interpreter.
Justo Roteta | Los Angeles, California United States | 08/07/2006

"Paquito Guzman is one of Puerto Rico's all-time greatest male vocalists. He experienced a huge career revival thanks to such classic hits as "Cinco Noches", "Ven O Voy", "Tu Amante", "25 Rosas" and "Yo Te Pido Amor". He was one of the Salsa Romantica genre's earliest practitioners and his smooth and tender yet powerful and muscular voice (coupled with extensive experience as a bolero singer) made for some truly great romantic Salsa. This is music that's equally good for dancing and/or setting the mood for a romantic candlelight dinner."
