Songs from the oral tradition of Newfoundland and Labrador "Ancestral Songs" finds Pamela Morgan revisiting her traditional roots, presenting ten songs that she learned in the 70's from traditional singers, and arranging them for guitar. These are songs that arrived with the settlers from England and Ireland, surviving many more generations in Newfoundland, taking on their own character, and interpreted by one of Newfoundland's finest. The album is sparse, elegant, and lovely, with just Morgan's tasteful guitar and eloquent voice, and just one guest musician, Fairport Convention's Chris Leslie, contributing fiddle to three tracks and viola to "Thomas the Rhymer".
