Lionheart is one of America's leading ensembles in vocal chamber music. Acclaimed for its "smoothly blended and impeccably balanced sound" (Allan Kozinn, The New York Tomes). the group is best known for its interpretation of medieval and Renaissance a capella music. It consists of one countertenor, two tenors, two baritones, and one bass. Lionheart performs regularly at prestigios venues in New York City, including The Cloisters, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, Lincoln Center, and Carnegie Hall. Giovanni Pierluigi da Pslestrina (b, circa 1525) drew on ancient modes in his music, as well as reflecting the works of his teachers amd mentors. His music was and is a balm for a hectic age--its beauty created using the most versatile communicative instrment, the human vooice, its mysterious lines moving and caring for souls.

Heavenly music, perfectly sung
Jazz Pianist | Milwaukee, WI USA | 11/02/2003
(5 out of 5 stars)

"A superb selection of some of Renaissance master Palestrina's exquisitely transcendent music, sung to perfection by this 6-man a capella group. Very peaceful, restful, meditative, it's ideal background music for work or home, for any time of day or night. Sublimely beautiful--even moreso than Lionheart's Paris: 1200--with it's rich, shifting, gorgeous harmonies."
