With this work, Paisiello presented audiences with the Italian pendant to the French comédie larmoyante, launching the sentimental form opera semiseria. Audiences loved the aria "l mio ben, quando verrà?" which is famous to this very day as Nina's Song. When Mozart was given the chance to get to know Paisiello's music during the Italian composer's stay in Vienna in 1784, he became a Paisiello fan and echoes of Paisiello's music can be found in Le nozze di Figaro (1786) and Don Giovanni (1787). This title includes a complete Italian libretto.
